Winery notes: "Our flagship white wine blend sourced from small vineyards around the Napa Valley. The three grape varietals, Tocai, Ribolla and Chardonnay, are harvested separately, and fermented independently in French Oak and stainless steel tanks until blending six weeks before bottling. The Tocai and Ribolla build the aroma and flavor profile of the wine, while the Chardonnay adds to the wine’s structure. The wine is fresh and subtle and fulfills the promise set forth years ago to bottle memorable white wines, unique amongst the whites of California. Blend: Tocai Friulano 48% (72 year old vines), Ribolla Gialla 41% and Chardonnay 11%."

Right off the bat there are powerful aromatics of lemon and jasmine. Bright and zippy, full of intriguing textural elements. This wine would be killer with food, especially cheeses. Plenty of Meyer lemon and grapefruit on the palate with just a sly edge of sweetness on the finish. I love how different, and yet still delicious this wine is. A style of wine I seek out regularly, but rarely see coming out of California.

If I told you I thought this wine smelled and tasted like Tocai Friulano and Ribolla Gialla…that probably wouldn’t be much help for most of you, but I will anyway. As the Italian buyer for the company I was impressed with the varietal correctness. The nose was classic white flower and on the palate the wine showed the richness Tocai Friulano can give a wine and it was coupled with the riveting acidity that Ribolla Gialla can give. Excellent balance, no oak flavors. This is a really good bottle of wine.

This white wine is so fun and fresh. Composed of a blend of Tocai Friulano, Ribolla Gialla, and Chardonnay, this is unlike many white blends out there right now. The nose pops with orchard fruits, cherry stone, and almond with bracing minerality and bright floral tones. The palate contains nectarine, lemon-lime zestiness, and salinity to balance the fruit and acid. The wine keeps up a very tropical vibe all the way through its zippy and spicy finish. I also found this wine fun to be sipped at many different temperatures: served cold it's as crisp and refreshing as you could hope for a summer sipper, but it's really quite enjoyable even right at room temperature possessing added weight and richness. 97 points from Wine Enthusiast

It's hard to believe that I can now say that I've been drinking Massican's wines for years. Dan Petroski is perhaps better known for his talents producing some of Napa's highest regarded Cabernet's at Larkmead. However, Massican is his own little passion project for expressive Mediterranean whites. The Annia is both their flagship wine and my favorite. A unique blend (at least in Napa) of Tocai Friulano, Ribolla Gialla and Chardonnay, this wine has effusive and complex aromas and rich structure supported by it's mouth watering fresh acidity. This is the type of complete wine that doesn't have to sacrifice in structure in favor of fresh and complex aromas. It has it all--both equally refreshing on a a warm summer evening, as satisfying as part of an elegant dining experience.
