This multi-vineyard blend is svelte, supple and sophisticated. Flavors of dark cherry, plum, fig and hints of chocolate-covered raisins are well matched. The finish is smooth and lightly tangy. While some of Alexana's 2016s want further bottle age, this wine is already drinking quite nicely. (PG) (6/2019)

Confession - I tasted this after an exceptional flight of Burgundies and.... It held it's own! And that's saying something, as the retail value of the other wines were on average twice what this little guy was priced at. Now, I'm not going to call this Burgundian by any stretch. This is a sumptuous and forward drinking Pinot that offers incredible concentration, sweet fruit and super fine tannins. It is at once mouthfilling but offers delicious raspberry and cherry tones that are seamlessly balanced with the structure of the wine. This is a pretty damn good find!

The nose is a swirling amalgam of earth, mushroom coupled with a wild fruit compote with hints of cinnamon and sage, pretty unique. On the palate the wine has a broad, rich and fleshy feel to it yet has a very central focus to the acidity that lifts the wine in the finish. Easy to drink but better suited for veal or roasted chicken meals.

I think this is a great example of what Willamette Valley pinot noir could become due to warmer ripening seasons. While it still has spicy and earthy qualities that you might expect from your Oregon Pinot's, it is slightly fruitier and flashier. The nose brings a beautiful array of muddled cranberry, plum, and rich kirsch liqueur. The back end is full of chewy yet supple tannins that linger long after drinking. Overall this a killer wine that I know will move quickly.

Upon opening the bottle the wine's brilliant aromatics were immediately apparent with ripe berry fruits, maraschino cherry, baking spices and bramble leaf. The wine's palate is soft and fruitful. A juicy, mid-weight texture with plenty of fruit and vibrant acidity. Dusty spices return on the finish that is elegant and lifted with perfectly judged acidity. A very complete wine that has a high "drinkability" factor due to its purity of fruit and moreish, mouthwatering finish! I really enjoyed a visit to Alexana's estate last year and it's great to see the wines getting the huge critical recognition they most certainly deserve!
