Vinous
Bright lemon-yellow color. More exotic yellow fruits on the nose, along with an element of smoky oak (about 20% new in 2017). In a distinctly fatter style than the village Puligny, offering good concentration and a suggestion of honeyed ripeness to its ripe yellow fruit flavors. A bit more phenolic and less refined on the finish, but shows good length and a firm stony underpinning. (ST)

Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
The latest rendition of a bottling Pernot has produced sine 1973, the 2017 Meursault-Blagny 1er Cru La Pièce Sous Le Bois offers up attractive aromas of blanched almonds, white flowers and fresh apple, followed by a medium-bodied palate that's bright and chiseled, with less flesh on its bones than the other Pernot premiers crus, reflecting its high altitude location. Drink 2018-2028. (WK)

Allen Meadows - Burghound
(from replanted vines that are 10+ years of age). A discreet touch of wood sets off equally smoky aromas of white flowers, soft spice and a pretty hint of passion fruit. The caressing and very rounded, indeed almost soft middle weight flavors possess a decidedly seductive mouth feel before concluding in a nicely persistent if somewhat blurry finish where the wood reemerges. This too is quite forward and could easily be enjoyed on the younger side.
