2017 Domaine Bart Bonnes Mares Grand Cru

90-93 points Allen Meadows - Burghound: "This too is quite firmly reduced with ample wood influence but unlike the Veroilles, the reduction does not extend to the palate. There is a bit more mid-palate density to the vibrant flavors that terminate in a youthfully austere but better balanced finish. This will need at least some bottle aging as it's presently quite firm." (01/2019)

Jackie O's Brewery "Mystic Mama" West-Coast IPA, Ohio (12oz can)

From the brewery: "Our West-coast inspired India pale ale offers lots of flavor and aroma with out over-powering the senses. A complex blend of 5 hops lend a firm bitterness to the notes of grapefruit, tangerines, and pine. A big dry hop addition of Citra and Simcoe hops give Mystic Mama a nose to stand up to the flavor"

2017 Leeuwin Estate "Prelude" Chardonnay Margaret River

93 points James Halliday: "Fermented in French barriques (40% new) and 9 months on lees with regular stirring. Fruit-driven bouquet with pear, citrus and stone fruit most noticeable, and a background note of nougat or marzipan, presumably an oak influence. There's a good mouthful of flavour here, ripe and juicy, finishing with a grapefruit-like tang that lingers. (SC)" (08/2019) 92 points James Suckling: "Delicious chardonnay with cooked-apple, lemon and pear character, as well as hints of cream. Full bodied, layered and flavorful. All here. Drink now. ...

2010 Silver Oak Alexander Valley Cabernet Sauvignon

Wine Spectator: "Aromas of vanilla, mocha, dill and anise impart complex scents, while the flavors fold over to the palate, joining taut dark berry and cherry notes, supported by firm, tight tannins. Drink now through 2022. (JL)" (10/2014) K&L Notes: Alexander Valley Cabs are known for their soft tannins and herbaceous notes, and this highly anticipated vintage from Silver Oak is no exception. From the winery: "Our 2010 Alexander Valley Cabernet Sauvignon is a vibrant, elegant expression of this classic appellation from a cooler vintage. It has a deep ...

2009 Ovid "Experiment P4.9" Napa Valley Red Blend

Ovid's "Experiment" bottling always changes, as the team at Ovid (you guessed it) experiments with different wines and is inspired by the characteristics of new yield. Made by Austin Peterson with consulting winemaker Andy Erickson, the 2009 Ovid "Experiment" is a blend of 2/3 Cabernet Sauvignon, 1/3 Cabernet Franc, both from single clones. The Cabernet provides structure and depth, along with rich cassis and cocoa notes. The Cabernet Franc adds brightness and lift, in the form of red fruit and floral highlights in the nose, and earthy notes on the palat ...

Gigantic Brewing Co. "Pipe Wrench" Gin Barrel Aged IPA, Oregon (500ml)

Gigantic IPA is great... ...but what if it was aged in Ransom Gin barrels for 3 months? Yeah, that does sound pretty good. These barrels lend the beer an array of botanical aromatics that meld seamlessly with the bright hop character of the base beer. Herbaceous, citrusy, spicy, laced with juniper and lightly oaky. Not to be missed!

2010 Brewer-Clifton "3-D Vineyard" Sta. Rita Hills Sparkling Chardonnay

92 points Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "(100% Chardonnay): Green-tinged gold. An explosively perfumed bouquet evokes pear skin, melon, honey and toasty lees, plus a strong note of iodine. Pungent, palate-staining and deep, with smoky orchard fruit flavors and notes of anise, saffron and chamomile. One of the most impressive New World sparkling wines I have ever tasted, with the type of complexity that many Tete de Cuvee Champagnes can only hint at. Finishes spicy, smoky and very long, with the smoke, melon and anise notes echoing." (1 ...

2016 Roger Sabon "Secret de Sabon" Châteauneuf-du-Pape 6-Pack in OWC (Pre-Arrival)

99 points Jeb Dunnuck: "Unquestionably the deepest, richest wine in the lineup, the 2016 Châteauneuf-du-Pape Le Secret des Sabon offers sensational notes of blackberries, cassis, crushed rocks, graphite, and bouquet garni. Full-bodied, ultra-fine, seamless, and pure, it has more elegance and purity than the 2010 and is reminiscent of the 2001. It's a gorgeous, extraordinary, layered, seamless Châteauneuf-du-Pape to drink over the coming two decades or more." (08/2018) 97 points Wine Spectator: "Gorgeous, with warm ganache and steeped plum aromas enlive ...

2016 Domaine Pierre Usseglio Chateauneuf-du-Pape "Not For You" (Pre-Arrival)

100 points Jeb Dunnuck: "There's a single barrel of the 2016 Châteauneuf Du Pape Not For You, which is 100% Grenache from the Les Serres lieu-dit from the oldest vines of the estate. It wasn’t destemmed and spent two years in a neutral barrel. It offers an incredible bouquet of kirsch, blackberries, incense, white flowers, garrigue and spice that develops beautifully with time in the glass. Rich, powerful, full-bodied, and concentrated, it nevertheless glides over the palate with no weight, ultra-fine tannins, and a singular, exotic, lengthy style. " (08 ...

His wines sell out fast, so buy when you see it.Drinking Window 2017 - 2022.(JA) " (01/2018) 94 points James Suckling: "Nose of fresh violets, cranberries and blue fruit. 2010 Serafin Gevrey-Chambertin Vieilles Vignes

88-90 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2010 Gevrey-Chambertin Vieilles Vignes reveals quite a bit more depth than the straight Gevrey bottling. Black cherries, flowers, mint and licorice are some of the many notes that take shape in the glass. This remains very much in the Serafin style, which is to say it is first and foremost a wine of textural refinement. (AG)" (02/2012) 90 points Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Medium red. Captivating aromas of redcurrant, raspberry, coffee, smoked meat and minerals. Juicy, supple and conce ...

Yet, the wine remains so light-footed and delicate. Then you glide into the distance through the very long, silky finish. Drink or hold." (02/2019) 94 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Pow! 2018 Bayten Sauvignon Blanc Constantia

Wine & Spirits: "From the estate formerly known as Buitenverwachtig, this is fresh and tangy with notes of lime and red grapefruit. A little spice and some vegetal notes give it complexity, and point it toward a Sichuan green-bean stir-fry." (08/2019) Wine Spectator: "Refreshing, with notes of grapefruit and bitter lemon oil. 2012 Behrens & Hitchcock "Change Up" Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon

91 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2012 Proprietary Red Blend The Change Up possesses an opaque blue/purple color as well as plenty of blueberry, raspberry, licorice and spice notes intermixed with a subtle hint of background wood. With a full-textured, full-bodied mouthfeel, this is hedonism at its best. Anyone interested in drinking wine for pleasure will enjoy this pleasure-bomb. Consume it over the next 8-10 years. This is one of my favorite wineries for full-throttle, pedal-to-the-metal, delicious, well-made wines. While the names are wh ...

Bright, spicy flavors of currant, currant leaf and spices, with a sweet, creamy quality in the middle. Finishes with dusty, fairly ripe tannins. (ST)" (12/2002) Wine Spectator: "Complex, with a mix of earth, mineral, dried currant, leather and dusty, cedary oak. Drink now through 2012." (06/07) 91 points from Robert Parker: "The whites start with the 2006 Eroica Riesling made in collaboration with the Dr. Loosen estate in Germany’s Mosel region. Fat, thick and very sweet, but with good acidity framing the very rich flavors of ripe peach, caraway seed and honey. This medium-bodied, fresh, pure, nicely textured, classy, well-made Chardonnay should be enjoyed over the next 3-5 years." (10/2014) K&L Notes: The 2012 vintage in Napa Valley was a classic--with warm days and cool nights--resulting in a classic Trefethen Chardonnay. 2017 Domaine Bart Chambertin-Clos de Beze Grand Cru

89-92 points Allen Meadows - Burghound: "Generous wood stops short of completely dominating the fresh array of spiced red berry fruit aromas that are notably floral in character. The supple and delicious if lighter weight flavors flash a touch of minerality on the lingering if mildly dry finish. My predicted range offers the benefit of the doubt that the dryness is related to the evident gas rather than a lack of phenolic maturity. Even so, this is on the lighter side for a grand cru." It always matures in used American oak barriques for some six years. The oldest of all the reds I tasted, it was also the one with more freshness, which speaks to the quality of the vineyard. 2010 Domaine Marcel Lapierre Morgon

From the Cru Beaujolais region of Morgon, the Domaine Lapierres's Villié-Morgon vineyard is comprised of decomposed rocks and crumbly schist. Owned and run by Marcel and Mathieu Lapierre, the vines are raised without the use of artificial fertilizers or herbicides; the father-son team have also been experimenting biodynamics on some of their older vines. This natural wine is full of red fruit, with a lushness and freshness that sets it apart from many Beaujolais. If you haven't tried a Cru Beaujolais before, this gem is a great place to start.
