2017 Buil & Giné "17-XI" Montsant

This curiously named red comes from vines (Red Grenache, Carignan and Ull de Llebre aka Tempranillo) aged 10 to 45 years from the districts of Falset, Marçà, Masroig, Capçanes and Els Guaimets. Different varieties are separately fermented. Maceration is long, at a temperature of 26ºC, followed by the malic-lactic fermentation. Once this process is completed the wine is aged in American oak casks for about 6 months with another 3 to 5 months of aging in bottles.

Clos Ste-Magdeleine farms organically in the ancient fishing village of Cassis in Provence, which importer Kermit Lynch describes as "an earthly paradise".
