Of the 2013 Penfolds Bin 389 Cabernet-Shiraz South Australia,Bob Campbell writes: "I have an emotional attachment to Bin 389 having tasted and enjoyed every vintage for more than 30 years and been witness to a sophisticated revolution toward greater finesse. Deep-tinted wine but not heavy or overdone, with quite elegant flavours that include a cedar, cassis Cabernet character and sweetly luscious Shiraz. A lovely wine that can be appreciated now but really needs to be cellared for quite a few years to fully appreciate its star quality."

Bid on this 12-bottle lot of 2016 Glaetzer "Bishop" Shiraz Barossa Valley South Australia (95JH, 92RP, 91WS, 90JS, 90W&S). James Halliday: "From 35-120o vines, open-fermented, post-ferment maceration, matured for 15 months in 40% new hogsheads, 90% French, 10% American. Deep crimson-purple; a complex wine, both in terms of its savoury flavours and its texture. Black fruits provide the core of the palate, with graphite, earth and tannins all on parade. It has absorbed and totally integrated the oak, which suits the wine to a T." (08/2018)

Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Deep garnet-purple in color, the 2012 Grange sports an earthy/meaty nose with notes of tree bark, dusty earth, underbrush and chargrill over a core of dried mulberries and Christmas cake, plus hints of pepper and baking spices. Rich, medium to full-bodied and seductive, it has spicy layers and a long meaty/savory finish. (LPB)" (10/2017)

Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Dramatic, intense and powerful, the 2016 Amon Ra Shiraz recalls the 2004 in its youth, crammed with layers of fruit, complex, savory elements and rich, velvety tannins. It's full-bodied, characterized by notes of grilled meat, espresso, black olive, cassis, vanilla, baking spices and an undercurrent of loamy earth. Yes, it's unapologetically big and bold, the product of a warm, sunny climate and ripe grapes, but it does show a sense of decorum, restraint and elegance on the long finish. (JC)" (08/2018)

Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2005 Shiraz “Deer in the Headlights” offers a fragrant perfume of cedar, leather, lavender, pepper, and blueberry compote. Bid on this bottle of 2003 Chris Ringland Shiraz Barossa Ranges (OWC - 97RP) in original wood. Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2003 Chris Ringland Shiraz has according to Ringland, "changed dramatically in the last year, getting denser". Nevertheless, it is not as saturated in color as the two previous vintages and is more advanced in its development. It is still a brilliant wine with glorious aromatics including spice box, fruitcake, dried fruits, and blueberry preserves. Savory, ripe, and elegant on the palate despite its size, it should be cellared for another 5 years and will give pleasure through 2023. The 2004 Chris Ringland Shiraz is from another top vintage. Like the other wines, it spent 42 months in new French oak. Aromas of scorched earth, pencil lead, espresso, black currant and blueberry lead to a dense, complex, youthful wine with layer upon layer of succulent fruit, impeccable balance, and a decade of aging potential.
