Bid on this 4-bottle lot of 1998 Domaine la Bouissiere Gigondas. Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 1998 Gigondas (70% Grenache and 30% Syrah) exhibits a dense purple color as well as a sweet, unevolved nose of minerals and black fruits. There is good underlying acidity, finesse, sweet cassis, and plenty of density and concentration. It will be long-lived, but it requires 3-5 years of cellaring. (RP)" (10/2000)
Starting Bid: $185.00

Bid on this bottle of 1998 Paul Jaboulet Aîné "La Chapelle" Hermitage (96WS, 92ST, 90RP). Wine Spectator: " *Top 100 Wines of 2000* What a great wine. Full-bodied, with crushed berry, smoke and grilled aromas, all presented quite subtly. Stands out for its natural, down-to-earth taste of clean, pure, shining fruit. A pleasure to drink." (12/2000)
Starting Bid: $138.00

Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 1998 Dalla Valle Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon (93RP, 91ST, 91WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The spectacular, full-bodied 1998 Cabernet Sauvignon (2,000 cases from a blend of 88% Cabernet Sauvignon and 12% Cabernet Franc) possesses great character, richness, and black currant fruit intermixed with licorice, tobacco, and smoke. While not as opulent as some vintages, it is exceptionally concentrated, long, and reminiscent of a ripe Bordeaux from a top vintage. As I indicated in my December, 2000 report, Dalla Valle's 1998s are candidates for wines of the vintage. (RP)" (08/2002)
Starting Bid: $210.00

Bid on this 4-bottle lot of 1998 Domaine la Milliere "Cuvée Unique VV" Châteauneuf-du-Pape. Jeb Dunnuck writes: "Proprietors Amié and Michel Arnaud of Domaine La Millière make a classic, balanced style of Châteauneuf du Pape that ages gracefully."
Starting Bid: $145.00

Bid on this 6-bottle lot of 1998 Coutet, Barsac ((91-93RP), 92ST). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "(No tasting note given)" (04/2000)
Starting Bid: $180.00

Bid on this bottle of 1998 Léoville-Las Cases, St-Julien (95W&S, 93RP, 93VN, 93WS, 92JD, 92ST). Wine & Spirits: "No tasting note given." (04/2002)

Bid on this 6-bottle lot of 1998 Bodegas Numanthia-Termes "Numanthia" Toro (OWC - 95RP) in original wood. Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 1998 Numanthia is an explosively rich, super-concentrated wine of riveting intensity. The color is a dense purple, and the wine has soaked up its 18 months in new French oak. It offers a smoky, blackberry and cherry-scented nose of extraordinary purity and precision. Full-bodied, enormously-endowed, and unctuously-textured, this monstrous wine displays tremendous potential. Because of its low acidity, it can be approached now, but it is best aged for another 2-3 years, and drunk over the following two decades. This compelling new offering proves what can be achieved in the appellation of Toro. Bravo! (RP)" (08/2001)
Starting Bid: $270.00

Bid on this 4-bottle lot of 1998 Bruno Giacosa "Falletto di Serralunga d'Alba" Barolo ((94-96RP), 95ST, 95WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The fabulous 1998 Barolo Falletto del Serralunga reveals intensity and volume. A dark plum color is accompanied by a classic Nebbiolo perfume of rose water, melted tar, truffles, and cherry jam. As the wine sits in the glass, aromas of spice box and cigar smoke also emerge. Full-bodied, dense, and powerfully tannic, yet extremely harmonious, it will be at its finest between 2008-2030. (RP)" (10/2001)
Starting Bid: $525.00

Bid on this bottle of 1998 Penfolds "Grange" Shiraz South Australia (98RP, 97VN, 97WS, 95W&S, 95WE, 94JS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "A wine that flirts with perfection, and should rival the 1986 as one of the legendary Granges produced, the 1998 has one of the highest alcohol contents (nearly 15%) as well as one of the highest percentages of Shiraz in the blend (97%). Its stunning purple color is accompanied by exceptionally sweet aromas of blackberry liqueur intermixed with barbecue spices, an endearing, smoky earthiness, pepper, roasted meats, and coffee. Huge, massive, unctuously textured, and extraordinarily youthful, this impressive wine is a candidate for perfection. It should continue to evolve over the next three decades. (RP) 98+" (06/2009)
