Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 1998 Paolo Scavino "Bric del Fiasc" Barolo (94WS, 93ST, 92RP). Wine Spectator: "Dark ruby color, with some garnet undertones. The nose shows ripe plum, as well as green coffee bean character. Full-bodied, with very soft and round tannins and ripe fruit. Turns to coffee, sweet tobacco and berries on the finish. Give it another couple years to mellow. 1998 Piedmont blind retrospective. (Web-2008)"
Starting Bid: $225.00

Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 1998 Château Fortia Châteauneuf-du-Pape .
Starting Bid: $60.00

Bid on this 4-bottle lot of 1998 Clerico "Ciabot Mentin Ginestra" Barolo (98WS, (93-96ST), 93RP, 92VN). Wine Spectator: "A brick house of a wine, with so much structure. Strawberry and raspberry tart on the nose. Full-bodied, with big chewy tannins and a fresh fruit finish. This is incredibly youthful and needs much more bottle time. (JS, Web-2008)"
Starting Bid: $400.00

Bid on this bottle of 1998 Ridge "Lytton Springs" Dry Creek Valley Zinfandel (93ST, 92WE, 90RP). Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Bright ruby-red. Complex, deeply pitched aromas of sappy blackberry, dark chocolate, game, leather and earth. Very full and ripe in the mouth, but with a captivating sappy quality. Flavors of dark berries, violet and spice are lifted by a peppery nuance. In a distinctly sweeter style, and more harmonious than usual at this stage of its evolution. Big, deep and impressively structured; finishes with substantial but ripe tannins. A superb showing." (06/2000)
Starting Bid: $30.00

Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 1998 Veuve Clicquot "La Grande Dame" Brut Champagne (95W&S, 93CG, 92ST, 92WE, 92WS, 90VN). Wine & Spirits: "The contrast of depth and brightness, or intensity and weightlessness creates a sense of harmonic resonance in this wine. All the aromatics are potent, from the scent of rising bread dough to the red skin of an apple, all the corresponding flavors rich yet refreshing. The firmness of the acidity seems to add briskness to the mousse, leaving a clean, chiseled impression of the chalk soils in which this grew. Once in a while, there is a young beauty who will age into a more profound older beauty; La Grande Dame is part of that rare breed." (12/2006)

Bid on this bottle of 1998 La Mission Haut-Brion, Pessac-Léognan (98RP, 96VN, 96WS, 92ST). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "A candidate for the wine of the vintage from this somewhat forgotten year, consumers should be seeking out wines from the Right Bank and Graves as 1998 was a great vintage in those appellations. La Mission’s 1998 exhibits a healthy, opaque blue/purple color with no lightening at the edge. Thirty minutes of aeration brings forth a sensational bouquet of chocolate, cedar, truffles, graphite, blackberries, cassis and incense. La Mission’s so-called scorched earth/charcoal/hot rocks characteristic has not yet appeared. Full-bodied with superb purity, a multilayered texture, sweet tannin, good acidity and a fabulously long finish, this great, young La Mission-Haut-Brion’s finest days are yet to come. (RP)" (08/2012)
