Bid on this 4-bottle lot of 1986 Carmenet Reserve Sonoma Cabernet Sauvignon. According to Tim Fish: "The original Carmenet winery, built in the early 1980s high on the Sonoma side of Mount Veeder, is now known as Moon Mountain Vineyard."
Starting Bid: $160.00

Bid on this bottle of 1986 Cos d'Estournel, St-Estèphe (95DC, 95RP, 92VN). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 1986 is a highly extracted wine, with a black/ruby color and plenty of toasty, smoky notes in its bouquet that suggest ripe plums and licorice. Evolving at a glacial pace, it exhibits massive, huge, ripe, extremely concentrated flavors with impressive depth and richness. It possesses more power, weight, and tannin than the more opulent and currently more charming 1985. *Tasted 7 times since bottling with consistent notes.* (RP)" (10/1994)
Starting Bid: $150.00

Bid on this 5-bottle lot of 1986 Beringer "Private Reserve" Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon (90RP). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The fully mature, open-knit 1986 Cabernet Sauvignon Private Reserve is totally delicious. The color is dark garnet with some amber at the edge. The big, sweet, licorice, earthy, jammy, black fruit-scented nose is followed by a full-bodied, sweet, expansive, chewy wine with no hard edges. The acidity and tannin are both well-integrated in this plump, sumptuous Cabernet Sauvignon. (RP)" (08/1996)
Starting Bid: $275.00

Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 1986 La Mission Haut-Brion, Pessac-Léognan (97WS). Wine Spectator: "An extremely impressive, yet slightly hard wine; still closed, but could be as great as the 1952. Dark ruby in color and very aromatic, with a rich cherry aromas. Full-bodied, with full tannins and plenty of fruit, yet very closed and tight on the finish. (JS)" (11/1991)
Starting Bid: $540.00

Bid on this bottle of 1986 Mouton Rothschild, Pauillac (100DC, 100JD, 100JS, 100RP, 99VN, 99WS, 98ST). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 1986 Mouton-Rothschild is a blend of 80% Cabernet Sauvignon, 10% Merlot, 8% Cabernet Franc and 2% Petit Verdot that was picked from 2 October until 16 October. Winemaker Philippe Dhalluin, who was not working at the property back then, told me that the pH was fairly low at 3.54 when it is usually around 3.75, due to the natural tartaric acid in the vines. It has a powerful and intense bouquet as always: exemplary graphite and cedar scents, a touch of black pepper and incense. It seems to unfurl in the glass, like a motor revving its engine. The palate is beautifully balanced with its trademark firm tannic structure, a Mouton-Rothschild with backbone and masculinity. Layers of black fruit intermingling with mint and graphite, a hint of licorice emanating from the Merlot, gently fanning out and my God, it is incredibly long. It is not like the 1985 Mo

Bid on this 4-bottle lot of 1986 Caymus Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon (94WS). Wine Spectator: "Clearly the best regular Cabernet from Caymus yet. Complex, elegant and delicious already, with chocolate- and smoke-tinged plum and cherry aromas and flavors. Supple, smooth and amazingly long on the finish. Uncommonly complex and elegant. *Spectator Selection, #24 Top 100 Wines of 1990* (JL)" (03/1990)

Bid on this 4-bottle lot of 1986 Kalin Cellars Reserve Sonoma Cabernet Sauvignon. Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "I am a fan of much of what proprietor Terry Leighton produces. Kalin's superb Sauvignon Blancs, long-lived, complex Chardonnays, and earthy, Cote de Nuits-like Pinot Noirs are complex, distinctive wines. The Cabernet Sauvignon has never been made in a forward, easy to understand and drink style. Given sufficient age, my experience has been that most Kalin Cabernets will provide interesting drinking, so perhaps this 1986 Reserve only needs another 15-20 years of cellaring! The wine's color remains a dense ruby/purple, with no amber or brown hues. The low-keyed nose of cedar, spice, and currants is youthful and restrained. Hard and tannic, with an austerity and toughness that create an unattractive aggressiveness, this wine has a borderline fruit deficiency. For all my reservations, I would not be surprised to see a marked improvement in 15-20 years. That's how much confidenc

Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 1986 Niebaum-Coppola "Rubicon" Napa Valley Bordeaux Blend (90RP). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 1986 Rubicon, which is scheduled for release in September (the winery only releases their red wines when they are at least six years old), is not as robust and rustic as some of its predecessors. However, it is concentrated and full-bodied, with a big, spicy, earthy, cassis-scented nose, and rich, full-bodied flavors that reveal considerable extraction of fruit and tannins. The wine is just beginning to open up, and after sixty minutes in a decanter, there was perceptible evolution and softening. I have often thought that renowned movie director/producer, Francis Ford Coppola, has wanted to make Cabernet in the image of an Italian Barolo, but the 1986 leans more toward a classic expression of traditional, age-worthy, concentrated Napa Valley Cabernet. (RP)" (08/1992)

Bid on this 5-bottle lot of 1986 William Hill "Reserve" Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon (91WS). Wine Spectator: "Intense and concentated, a rich but compact Cabernet with crisp acidity and firm tannins. Pretty cassis, toast and vanilla flavors are enticing." (11/1989)
