1995 Charles Heidsieck "Blanc des Millénaires" Brut Champagne

95 points Decanter: "The last batch of 1995 was disgorged in summer 2017, after spending 21 years on lees. ‘Jetted’ to revive it after disgorgement, it has a new lease of life. A refreshing young Champagne with pure chalkiness and lemon intensity. Cries out for oysters. (CG)" (07/2018) 95 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Deep, pure and fresh on the fruit-intense and complex nose, the 1995 Blanc des Millenaires is still young and incredibly fresh on the palate. This is refreshingly pure, concentrated, fruity and perfectly round Champagne that reve ...

1995 The Rare Armagnac Collection "Venus" (Domaine de Pouchegu) 23 Year Old K&L Exclusive Vintage Armagnac (750ml) (Previously $120)

The Rare Armagnac Collection is a new small scale bottler seeking to unearth rare and unique Armagnacs from small estates across the region that would otherwise not be available. We're extremely lucky to have stumbled upon them and this first parcel that they acquired from the famous estate in the best part of the Ténarèze. We first visited Domaine Pouchegu in 2013. There Pierre Laporte was matter of fact about what made his Armagnacs so good. Lots of care in the vines, good amount of sable fauve in the soils, highering the best distiller and a commitmen ...

1995 Loch Lomond ("All Malt") 22 Year Old "Old Particular" K&L Exclusive Single Barrel Cask Strength Single Grain Scotch Whisky (750ml) (Previously $90)

We have two amazing rarities from the reclusive Loch Lomond distillery this year. A unique facility, Loch Lomond makes every type of whisky they need for their blends in house. This means they operate a huge number of stills including multiple column stills and multiple pot stills. They make whisky in damn near every combination from heavily peated single malts to peat free malt and multiple varieties of grain whisky. This 22 year old is technically a single grain, but as grain whisky can be made from any grain, this so happens to be made from malted bar ...

1995 Couly Dutheil "Baronnie Madeleine" Chinon

Maison Couly-Dutheil is undeniably one of the finest estates of Chinon with eighty acres of prime Chinon vineyards as well as seven hectares of Saumur and Saumur Champigny. The estate's Chinon holdings are impressive indeed as they spread over three distinct Chinon terroirs: Sand and gravel along the Vienne River, which produce light and fruit driven wines; siliceous slopes and plateaus, which impart a certain finesse and elegance to Chinon; and finally clay and limestone slopes, which produce Chinon's most serious and profound wines. In the most success ...

1995 Glen Keith 21 Year Old "John Milroy - K&L Exclusive" Single Barrel Cask Strength Single Malt Scotch Whisky (750ml) (Previously $110)

This wonderful cask of Glen Keith was selected by our friend Doug McIvor for its exceptional balance and character. The distillery in Keith has been rare in modern times due to its closure from 2000 until 2013. While it served as a partner to neighboring Strathisla as one of the component malts in the Chivas Blend, it was also the site of much experimentation and some unusual production techniques. There they developed unique yeast strains and alternative ways of peating whisky--namely the use of extremely peaty water to ferment the mash. Keith has long ...

1995 Léoville-Barton, St-Julien

92-94 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Tasted wonderful in October 2000. A meaty rich ripe nose of cassis, mulberry and cherry. Full-bodied and expansive structure. Approachable with layers of strawberries and red fruits. A rich voluptuous Barton that should be ready in 2-3 yrs. Then blind in April 2005. A very attractive nose with a slight under-ripeness that lends it freshness and vitality. The palate is well-balanced with toasty new oak. But quite backward compared to others with a dense sweet, chocolate tinged finish. Quite modern in style on t ...

1995 Pape-Clement, Pessac-Léognan

91 points John Gilman: " It had been several years since I last tasted the 1995 Pape Clément and the wine is showing lovely potential and is now only a few years away from primetime drinking. The deep, soil-driven nose offers up scents of roasted cassis, road tar, cigar smoke, herb tones, a lovely base of soil and a nice touch of cedar. On the palate the wine is deep, full-bodied and just a touch rustic in terms of structure, with a lovely gloss of pure fruit on the attack, a very good core and still a fair bit of firm tannins perking up the long and sti ...

1995 Grand Mayne, St-Emilion

Both powerful and elegant, this wine exhibits layers of richness, nicely integrated acidity and tannin, and an impressive full-bodied, long finish. Medium to full-bodied, with plenty of pain grille-like flavors and abundantly sweet fruit imbued with glycerin and tannin, this wine possesses a long mid-palate, as well as a finish that builds in the mouth. It is an impressively built, pure, rich Pomerol that merits considerable attention." (02/1998) Wine Spectator: "Decadent funkster of a wine. Dark, inky color. Masses of c ...

1995 Fleury Brut Champagne Magnum 1.5L

95 points Wine & Spirits: "Rarely has a 1995 Champagne presented itself with the kind of drive and structural power of this Fleury. With acidity that may bring tears to your eyes, this is not for the faint of heart. That extreme acidity tingles in the mouth, leaving flavors of pineapple, caramel candied lime and ginger in its wake. It requires crudo or sashimi—belly tuna would be insanely great with this wine." 1995 Peter Michael "Les Pavots" Knights Valley Bordeaux Blend

91 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "First of all, Les Pavots is made in a backward, Bordeaux-like style that does not offer the gush of jammy fruit so noticeable in many California Cabernets. However, this is an authoritatively rich wine overlaid with a structural profile that suggests the wine needs 4-5 years of cellaring - at least in top vintages such as California has experienced in the nineties. Quite rich and tannic on the palate though with a touch of chocolate. Moderate acidity, quite masculine and muscular towards the finish. Needs time but good potential. Tasted April 2005. Really juicy and penetrating, though, and very long on the finish. (ST) 95+" (05/1998) 94 points Wine Spectator: "Perfumed red currant, cherry, anise and a sort of melted-chocolate aroma. 1995 Haut-Brion, Pessac-Léognan

The 1995 seems to have sweeter tannin and a bit more fat and seamlessness when compared to the more structured and muscular 1996. Certainly 1995 was a vintage that the brilliant administrator Jean Delmas handled flawlessly. 1995 La Mission Haut-Brion, Pessac-Leognan
Bid on this bottle of 1995 La Mission Haut-Brion, Pessac-Leognan (95RP, 92WS, 91ST). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "This vintage is aging at a glacial pace and the tannins are currently more significant than their counterbalancing components of fruit and glycerin. While the word “potential” seems to be the most positive descriptor for this vintage, there are some nagging doubts about whether all the tannins will melt away and the fruit will hold. As in most 1995s, the color remains a healthy dark plum/purple. One of the bigger wines of the vintage, the ripe, powerful Merlot component has buttressed the Cabernet elements, giving the wine plenty of body, tannin and La Mission’s classic asphalt, cassis, blackberry, smoky barbecue, meaty notes intermixed with a hint of hot rocks. The 1995 is still a young wine and I am beginning to wonder if this vintage overall will resemble 1975 rather than something with more charm? (RP)" (08/2012)

The winery tends to give this wine 12 months aging in old oak barrels. At the conclusion of that period, the wines are moved into 100% new oak for 10 months.
