1994 Angélus, St-Emilion

92-94 points Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Black-ruby. Sweet, expressive aromas of bitter cherry, cocoa powder and caramel. Very sweet and very concentrated, but fresh and nicely defined. Intriguing gamey nuance. Substantial even tannins coat the mouth, but are buried under explosive finishing fruit. This wine shows considerably more personality, not to mention depth of fruit flavor, than the '95. A superb '94, and one not to miss. (ST)" (05/1996) 93 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "In the new classification of St.-Emilion, justice ...

1994 Taylor Vintage Port

100 points James Suckling: "This is, to date, the greatest Vintage Port ever from here. It overwhelmed me years ago when I tasted it from barrel, but only now is it crossing gradually into its drinking window. The intensity is still mind-boggling here, with sweet-and-sour notes as well as mounds of clay. There are violets lurking somewhere too. A full-bodied, medium sweet and sublime Vintage Port, showing forest fruits and freshly picked blackberries on the palate in the form of a creamy, focused and tannic texture." 1994 Stag's Leap Wine Cellars "Fay Vineyard" Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon

92 points Wine Spectator: "There's lots to admire in this Cab, with its core of currant, anise, cedar, sage and black olive flavors, and tannins that are firm but supple. Rich and concentrated, it's marked by more substance, depth and tannin than is the SLV bottling, if not as concentrated as the Cask 23. (JL)" (03/1998) Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 1994 Cabernet Sauvignon Fay Vineyard offers up a sweet, tobacco, coffee, spicy, herbal nose, followed by elegant, fruitcake, medium-bodied redcurrant flavors with a subtle hint of black fruits. 1994 Stag's Leap Wine Cellars "Cask 23" Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon

93 points Wine Spectator: " This red blend is intense and concentrated, with a rich and supple texture and loads of currant, anise, black cherry, plum and berry notes. On the finish, the flavors weave together in a complex tapestry, and though firmly tannic, it's perfectly balanced. *Cellar Selection* (JL)" (03/1998)

1994 Clos du Marquis, St-Julien

Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "I am not a great believer in the quality of most second wines, as they tend to be a dumping ground for everything deemed not desirable for the grand vin. However, such second wines as Forts de Latour, Bahans-Haut-Brion, Pavillon Rouge de Chateau Margaux, and Clos du Marquis are serious wines that possess the character of their more complex and concentrated siblings, yet are more supple and accessible. Clos du Marquis is not to be missed in the 1993-95 vintages. This deep ruby/purple-colored wine reveals the sweet, pure cas ...

1994 Léoville-Las Cases, St-Julien

92-94 points Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Excellent deep, saturated color. Sexy aromas of black cherry, cassis, and toasty, smoky oak. Wonderful sweetness and texture, with terrific perfume. More pliable than the '95 Las Cases. Tannins are extremely well integrated for a cabernet-based '94. I don't find the austerity that Delon cites. " (05/1996) 93 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Michel Delon, a great man, is the consummate proprietor, meticulously administering this vast estate spread out along the St.-Julien/Pauillac border, s ...

1994 Fonseca Vintage Port

100 points Wine Spectator: "Hold on to your hat. This is the best Fonseca since 1977, and it's probably even better than that classic vintage--more like the breathtaking 1948. Mind-blowing, with masses of color, aroma and fruit flavor. Smells like fermenting berries, boasting loads of crushed grape, violet and berry character. Big, full-bodied and very sweet, with tons of tannins and a sweet finish. Tannic and huge, it's a long-term, great Port. *Ranked as the Top Wine of 1997, Cellar Selection* (JS)" (04/1997) 98 points Decanter: "Tight knit – not giv ...

1994 Caymus "Special Selection" Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon

95 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "This hedonistic Cabernet Sauvignon's saturated purple color is accompanied by an exuberant, sweet, enveloping fragrance of smoky new oak, and jammy blackberry and cassis fruit. In the mouth, this lavishly wooded, black fruit-filled Cabernet is extremely full-bodied, with superb levels of fruit, glycerin, and extract. Like many 1994 Cabernet Sauvignons, it possesses extraordinary equilibrium, with the sweet tannin giving the wine considerable accessibility. The finish lasts for nearly 30 seconds. 1994 Duckhorn "Three Palms" Napa Valley Merlot

75% Merlot, 19% Cabernet Franc and 6% Cabernet Sauvignon. Still quite dark ruby with purple highlights in color, and showing aromas of strawberry fruit, plum preserves, toasty oak, vanilla and hints of green onion and dusty rose. On the palate there are more sweet, lush flavors and a round mouthfeel with a fruit core of black cherry. This is a well-balanced wine with nicely integrated tannins and a rich creamy finish. It is drinking superbly right now!

1994 Niebaum-Coppola "Rubicon" Napa Valley Proprietary Red

92 points Wine Spectator: "**Cellar Selection** A well-regarded blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Cabernet Franc, this year's version shows impressive balance and finesse. Firm and tightly wound, with a sharply focused, deeply concentrated core of currant, black cherry, cedar, toast and spice flavors, this is a muscular yet polished wine. Best from 2002 through 2010. 3,481 cases made. –JL " (06/1998) Jancis Robinson: "Deep and rich. Already drinking well but with strong Rutherford character and a slightly dry finish. 1994 Pichon-Lalande, Pauillac
Bid on this 5-bottle lot of 1994 Pichon-Lalande, Pauillac ((90-92ST), 91RP). Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Excellent deep color. Pungent oak, talc, and black raspberry on the nose, with a suggestion of superripeness. Lush and sweet; not a blockbuster but quite suave. But compared to the even riper '95 this shows a faint green quality. Should give pleasure early. (ST)" (05/1996)

Bid on this 6L-bottle lot of 1994 Mouton Rothschild, Pauillac (6L) (OWC - 91JS, 91RP, 91WS) in original wood. Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "After less than persuasive performances in two potentially great years, 1989 and 1990, Mouton-Rothschild appears to have settled down, producing fine efforts in recent vintages, culminating with the enormously promising, unquestionably profound 1995. The 1994 appears to be the finest Mouton-Rothschild made following the 1986 and before the 1995's conception. The wine exhibits a dense, saturated purple color, followed by a classic Mouton nose of sweet black fruits intermingled with smoke, pain grillee, spice, and cedar. Medium to full-bodied, with outstanding concentration, a layered feel, plenty of tannin, and rich, concentrated fruit, this wine is similar to the fine 1988. Anticipated maturity: 2005-2025. By the way, the Dutch artist, Appel, has created a gorgeous label for the 1994. Although Mouton-Rothschild can be among the most inconsistent

Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 1994 Robert Mondavi "Reserve" Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon (95RP, 95WS, 92VN). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Tasted at the Robert Mondavi Cabernet Reserve vertical. This has a very different bouquet to the 1996: lighter and minty, more red fruit than black fruit profile, raspberry, bergamot, a touch of leather coming through. The palate is medium-bodied with fine, almost filigree tannins, harmonious, light and more Bordeaux like than other vintages with a little dryness coming through on the ferrous, honey-textured finish. This exudes style and panache. One of the greats of the decade, no doubt. Tasted June 2009. (NM)" (11/2009)

Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "A stunning, seamless Cabernet Sauvignon, it boasts abundant notes of white chocolate, creme de cassis, woodsmoke, spice box, licorice and forest floor, superb concentration, a full-bodied mouthfeel, sweet, integrated tannin and admirable youthfulness as well as freshness. This is one of the most Bordeaux-like wines in this vertical, with the lead pencil shavings and scorched earth characteristics pointing toward a Graves style. 1994 Turley "Hayne Vineyard" Napa Valley Petite Syrah
Bid on this bottle of 1994 Turley "Hayne Vineyard" Napa Valley Petite Syrah ((97-99RP), 93VN). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "There is no doubt about it - as a fan of the underrated Petite Syrah, I have never tasted greater Petite Syrahs than the 1994 Aida or 1994 Hayne. Some of the extraordinary Petite Syrah produced by La Jota from the old Park-Muscatine Vineyard on Howell Mountain, and the now-discontinued Ridge Petite Syrahs from the Devil's Hill portion of York Creek Vineyard were previous benchmarks, but Turley Cellars' Petite Syrahs have set a new reference point for this varietal. The 1994 Petite Syrah Hayne Vineyard is the new reference point for Petite Syrah. At 14.9% alcohol, this dry, awesomely endowed wine is not shy about displaying its virtues. The opaque purple/black color is followed by a nose of extraordinary intensity offering jammy smells of black-raspberries and creme de cassis. Amazingly rich, with extraordinary purity (a hallmark of all the Turley wines), this f

1994 Soldera Brunello di Montalcino
Bid on this bottle of 1994 Soldera Brunello di Montalcino (92JG, 90RP). John Gilman: "Soldera’s reputation as a magician in off vintages is heartily confirmed by the two bottlings of 1994 that I have had the pleasure to taste. The 1994 Soldera Case Basse normale is a lovely bottle of Brunello that is now fully into its apogee, but will continue to drink beautifully for at least another dozen years. The pure and elegant nose jumps from the glass in a blend of cherries, red berries, woodsmoke, great minerality, nut skins and cedar. On the palate the wine is fullish, complex and displays stunning transparency, with good depth in the mid-palate, melting tannins, and excellent length and complexity on the refined finish. A very polished and serious Brunello that would hold its own no problem in a vertical tasting of a great vintage. Revelatory juice. Drink between 2004-2020." (02/2008)

1994 Dunn Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon
Bid on this bottle of 1994 Dunn Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon (94CG, 94RP). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 1994s might be ready to drink within 10-15 years. It is hard to believe these wines spend 30 months in oak casks before bottling as they are incredibly unevolved and backward when released. The 1994 Cabernet Sauvignon Napa reveals an opaque purple color, followed by a sweet, rich, black currant and creme de cassis-scented nose with no evidence of oak. This fruit bomb displays considerable breadth and expansiveness on the palate, in essence revealing only two dimensions - fruit and tannin. It is slightly softer and more precocious than the 1995 and 1996, so perhaps it will only need 10, rather than 15 years of cellaring. This immensely impressive Cabernet is a candidate for 20-30 years of cellaring. One of the issues about which Randy Dunn is sensitive is the fact that his wines are so remarkably consistent that it is often difficult to tell vintages apart. I think the vintag
