90-92 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Opaque deep black colour. The nose is sweet and raisiny, quite fragrant and perfumed. The palate is spicy, peppery, quite "bullish" in a way. The Niepport shows more restraint and balance. Slightly dry on the finish - bit this is still an excellent port that should last another decade at least. (NM)" (06/2004) Wine Spectator: "Refined and well crafted. Dark purple, with fresh floral and grapey aromas and flavors. Medium body, medium sweetness and firm tannins. (JS)" (07/1994) K&L Notes: 93 points, Roy Hers...

90 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 1991 Cabernet Sauvignon Reserve is a backward, more elegantly-styled wine than the 1991 regular bottling. It displays intensity, medium body, excellent richness, and a structured personality. Five to six years of cellaring is mandatory given its elevated tannin level. The wine is extremely young and unevolved, yet it promises to last for 15-20 years." (10/1994)

96 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The superb 1991 Cask 23 Proprietary Red Wine appears to be one of the truly outstanding examples of this expensive proprietary red wine. The wine's saturated dark purple color is followed by a huge, unevolved but sexy nose of toasty new oak, dense, black-cherry and jammy cassis fruit, and vague scents of underbrush and spice. Extremely rich and concentrated, it offers intriguing blackcurrant and coffee flavors, full body, remarkable harmony, and a finish that lasts for nearly a minute. (RP)" (12/1994) 93 points...

96 points John Gilman: "The 1991 Côte Blonde from René Rostaing has long been considered one of his finest wines and at age twenty-three, the wine is at its apogee of peak drinkability and simply stunning. The beautiful bouquet is still fairly youthful and will develop even more complexity with further bottle age, as it delivers a glorious blend of sweet dark berries, intense peppery notes, black olives, new leather, roasted gamebird, forest floor, nutskins and violets. On the palate the wine is deep, full-bodied, complex and quite peppery in personality...

Jancis Robinson: "45% Cabernet Sauvignon, 35% Merlot, 12% Cabernet Franc, 8% Petit Verdot. Very small vintage (20-25% of the usual crop) due to the hard frost 21 Apr. Serious frost damage to new shoots. Slightly bricky rim but garnet core. Fresh and cedary but less fragrant than the 1996. A little sappy and nutty. Touch of undergrowth on the nose and comes through more on the palate. Dry, fine tannins, fully resolved and sweet. Some sweetness of undergrowth and red fruit. Just enough fruit to be in balance now but I wouldn't keep it much longer. Good fo...

Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "...the wine does offer medium ruby color, a spicy, attractive, bing cherry, vanillin-scented nose, ripe, medium-bodied flavors, light tannin, and adequate depth... (RP)" (02/1994) Wine Spectator: "A floral, fresh wine with light body and a refreshing finish..." (03/1994)

Bid on this 4-bottle lot of 1991 Domaine Peyre Rose "Clos Syrah Léone" Coteaux du Languedoc (90RP). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 1991 Clos Syrah Leone proved to be an exceptional discovery. From yields of only 20 hectoliters per hectare (well under two tons per acre), this unfiltered cuvee of a Syrah/Mourvedre blend is a blockbuster wine. Unfortunately, there are only limited quantities available in a few marketplaces. If you have access to it, this wine is worth buying by the case. It exhibits a black color, a fragrant nose of black fruits, licorice, herbs, and soy sauce, massive richness and concentrated flavors, fine acidity, and sweet tannin. (RP)" (12/1993)
Starting Bid: $160.00

Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 1991 Caymus Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon (90WS). Wine Spectator: "Dark color. Sturdy, rich and concentrated, with complex currant, black cherry, tar, and plum flavors. Lacks the finesse and extra dimensions of the Special Selection, but still a very impressive, concentrated wine. (JL, Web Only-2002)"
Starting Bid: $195.00
