1986 Mouton Rothschild, Pauillac

100 points Decanter: "Wonderful, concentrated and still astonishingly young, this has brushes of violet aromatics rising above the tight cassis fruits and rich black truffle, and the classic menthol edging of a Cabernet Sauvignon-dominated Pauillac. We drank this over lunch and it was breathtaking, but were told that 24 hours later it had blossomed even further, so make sure you give this a serious amount of time in carafe to open up - something that gives you just a small clue as to how structured, layered and complex the wine we are dealing with here i ...

1986 Léoville-Barton, St-Julien

91 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Still backward (frustratingly so), this wine shows a very dark ruby color with a hint of pink at the rim. The aromatics are beginning to emerge from just pure fruit-driven notes to secondary characteristics. Sweet earth, truffle, black currant, underbrush, and licorice emerge with coaxing. In the mouth, the wine is powerful, dense, with high tannin., impressive concentration, and a formidable, sort of old-style personality. The best 1986 Medocs are terrific wines, but have never been wines that show a lot of char ...

1986 Grand-Puy-Lacoste, Pauillac

91 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "This wine is the finest Grand-Puy-Lacoste produced after 1982 and before 1995. The 1986 still possesses an impressive deep ruby/purple color, as well as a classic nose of cedar, blackcurrants, smoke, and vanillin. Full-bodied, powerful, authoritatively rich, and loaded with fruit, this wine's solid lashing of tannin is not likely to melt away for 3-4 more years. It can be drunk, although it is backward and unyielding. Certainly, it is one of the better northern Medocs of the vintage. (RP)" (01/1998) Wine Specta ...

1986 Chateau de Ravignan Bas-Armagnac (750ml)

From the importer: "Castles have graced the property of what is now the Château de Ravignan since the 12th century. The name "Ravignan" itself comes from the deep ravines surrounding the property that once served as a natural defense. The château was later occupied by feudal barons and partially destroyed during the religious wars of the 16th century. In the mid-17th century, a Louis XIII manor was built on the property. Vineyards were planted in 1732. Around the same time, the property was sold to Jean La Croix, who later took the name Ravignan."

1986 Cheval Blanc, St-Emilion

93 points John Gilman: "The 1986 Cheval Blanc is a beautiful wine and one of the sleeper vintages for this fine estate in the decade of the 1980s. The really refined and lovely nose wafts from the glass in a complex mélange of dark berries, menthol, cigar ash, herbal tones, soil, espresso and a deft touch of new oak. On the palate the wine is deep, full-bodied, suave and classy, with a fine core of fruit, modest, ripe tannins and a very long, still modestly austere and perfectly balanced finish. All this lovely wine needs is just a bit more time in the c ...

1986 Bruichladdich 30 Year Old Rare Cask Series "Sherry: The Magnificent Seven" Unpeated Islay Single Malt Whisky (black tin) (750ml)

The final seven casks from the '86 vintage aged in Oloroso sherry butts until being transfered to fresh Fernando di Castilla Pedro Ximinez casks for 4 years of additional maturation. This tiny release of some of Bruichladdich's oldest stocks are proof that the unpeated Islay can age just as gracefully as some of her smokey neighbors. Only 4200 bottles of this special whisky were produced and sold exclusively in the US so expect the international collectors to be on the hunt.

1986 Heitz Cellar "Martha's Vineyard" Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon
Bid on this bottle of 1986 Heitz Cellar "Martha's Vineyard" Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon (92JG). John Gilman: "The 1986 Martha’s Vineyard is still an impressively young wine and a bit bound up in its adolescence crankiness at the present time, though the underlying quality here is quite evident. The nose offers up a deep mélange of black cherries, a bit of tariness, eucalyptus, cigar ash, fine soil tones, cedar and a topnote of Rutherford dust. On the palate the wine is deep, full-bodied and still quite tight, with a rock solid core of fruit, moderate tannins, tangy acids and fine focus on the long and still quite closed finish. I may be underrating this vintage a tad, but the wine is still quite reticent and needs a handful more years of bottle age before it really starts to stir from its extended hibernation. 1986 Caymus "Special Selection" Napa Valley Pinot Noir
Bid on this bottle of 1986 Caymus "Special Selection" Napa Valley Pinot Noir . Wine Spectator: "A charming wine with good concentration of cherry and plum flavors. It's blunt but generous, and needs cellaring to soften the tannins and bring out its best. " (12/1989)

1986 Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon Tasting Lot
Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 1986 Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon Tasting Lot, including 1-bottle of 1986 Forman Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon (92JG, 91VN, 90RP) and 1-bottle of 1986 Heitz Cellar "Bella Oaks" Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon. Of the 1986 Forman Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon,John Gilman writes: "The 1986 vintage of Forman cabernet sauvignon is a tad riper than either the ’85 or ’87, tipping the scales at 13.2 percent alcohol, and the wine perhaps has a bit more mid-palate stuffing as a result. This is a very, very good bottle of mature cabernet, wafting from the glass in a mix of cassis, dark berries, dried eucalyptus, dark soil tones, a touch of cola and a topnote of cigar wrapper. On the palate the wine is deep, full-bodied, complex and nicely balanced, with just a touch of backend tannin remaining, good focus and grip and a long, classy finish. A fine example of this fine vintage that has now reached its apogee, but still has plenty of life in it. (Drink between 2016-2

1986 Margaux, Margaux
Bid on this bottle of 1986 Margaux, Margaux (98VN, 97RP, 95WS). Vinous: "The 1986 Château Margaux was even more emotionally moving. Still incredibly youthful, it showed incredible focus and depth, all backed up by considerable structure. As hard as it may seem to believe, on this night the 1986 appeared to still be some years away from peaking. It was striking in every way. (AG) 98+" (02/2012)
