2009 Guiraud, Sauternes

97 points Vinous: "The 2009 Guiraud is one of the gems of Sauternes this vintage, one of the finest offerings in recent years. It has a wonderful, beautifully delineated bouquet with expressive scents of wild honey, orange pith, Seville orange marmalade and just a hint of pineapple. The palate is beautifully defined with pure botrytised fruit, supremely well balanced with a vivacious, ginger and white pepper tinged finish that lingers long in the mouth. Outstanding. Tasted blind at Farr Vintners’ 2009 Bordeaux tasting. (NM)" (03/2019) 96 points James S ...

2004 Château Tirecul la Gravière "Cuvée Chateau" Monbazillac (500ml) (Elsewhere $30)

95 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Tirecul’s sweet and decadent 2004 Cuvee Chateau exhibits apricot/peach marmalade, creme brulee and maple syrup aromas and flavors in a full-bodied, unctuous, but well-balanced, pure style. This dessert wine is already remarkably evolved, and should drink well for another 10-15 years - good luck deferring your gratification! As always, this wine is a sensational value. (RP)" (06/2014) K&L Notes: Just a little south of Sauternes lies the region of Monbazillac not far from the town of Bergerac. Similar in fashion ...

2001 d'Yquem, Sauternes (375ml)

100 points James Suckling: "This is so layered and intense on the palate with lemons and dried pineapple, mango and honey. Full body, very sweet, but it remains tangy and vibrant. Shows such amazing balance and intensity. Crazy finish. Hints of vanilla and apple purée. One of the greatest Yquems ever. All about purity here. " (09/2013) 100 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "I have had the very good fortune to taste the 2001 d'Yquem perhaps a dozen times since its release and have never been less than absolutely floored by its combination of poise, ...

2009 d'Yquem, Sauternes

100 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Pale to medium gold colored, the 2009 d'Yquem bursts from the glass with gregarious crème caramel, allspice, dried apricots, mandarin peel and pineapple upside down cake scents plus a fragrant undercurrent of fungi, acacia honey, candied ginger, musk perfume and frangipani. Full-bodied and full-on hedonic in the mouth, the rich, tightly wound layers are still amazingly youthful with bags of citrus sparks and an incredibly long, perfumed finish. 2015 d'Yquem, Sauternes

100 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Following a very long harvest stretching nearly two months, the 2015 Château d'Yquem came in at 13.9% alcohol and 144 grams per liter of residual sugar, sporting a pH of 3.65 and six grams per liter of tartaric acid. None of these numbers, however, even remotely begin to tell you how profound this wine is. 93 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Tasted single blind against its peers. It never ceases to amaze me just how well Raymond-Lafon performs year after year. The 2007 has an elegant bouquet with touches of tangerine and dried honey, the underlying minerality beginning to show through with further aeration. The palate is medium-bodied with a viscous entry, good acidity with a very taut finish that will need time to express itself. This remains one of the best value wines of the vintage. 1988 d'Yquem, Sauternes (375ml)

99 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Millionaires will have considerable fun comparing the evolution of the 1988 d'Yquem with the 1986. Both are super-rich, honeyed, botrytised wines. The 1988 exhibits a deeper color, as well as a more evolved, richer, and more complex bouquet. Aromas of melted butter, honeyed fruits, spicy nuts, and toasty new oak explode upward from the glass. The 1988 d'Yquem displays more richness and unctuosity than any young d'Yquem I have tasted. It should have 40-60 years of positive evolution, although one suspects that muc ...

This is a decidedly "millenial" wine in both style and target audience, but it happens to be made by one, as well. Already the young Michelini is turning heads among critics and consumers alike with his vibrant, fruit-forward wines that come in at unbelievable prices when you consider the quality behind them.

(02/2019) 95-97 points Wine Enthusiast: "This wine is dense, mingling spicy nutmeg along with superb ripe honey and marmalade flavors. With its balanced acidity and opulence, it is ...
